Animal Testing are the procedures performed on living animals to test if product are safe for human use, most commanly cosmetic products as well as:
- Forced Chemical exposure which can include, oral force-feeding, forced inhalation of chemicals and injection into the abdomen and muscle.
- Genetic maniplutation.
- Exposure to drugs, chemicals and infectious diseases at levels the cause illness, pain and distresss to monitor behaviour.
- Ear-notching and tail-clipping.
- Periods of physical restraint.
- Surgical procedures and recovery.
- Infliction of wounds, burns and other injerys to study the healing
- Food and water deprivation.
- Infliction of pain to study physiology
- Maniplulations to create “animal models” of human diseases ranging from strokes to cancer to depression.
- Behavioural experiments designed to cause distress e.g, electric shock or forced swimming.
- Killing be carbon dioxide asphyxaition, neck-breaking, decapitation, or other means.
Its so common for most to think that animals are only tested on for cosmetic and make-up products but animal testing is so much more than just that. There are countless other inhumane ways that animals are being used, tortured and even killed for our benifit.
The animals that are tested on can range. Many species are used but the animals that are tested on most commonly are,
